Doing business in the world
Doing business in the world means generating value, profit and growth to meet obligations made to investors, however, it also means contributing to the development of local economies and, above all, encountering different cultures, in the knowledge that the success and the reputation of a large multinational also depend on its ability to play an active role in society.
Guala Closures Group has production plants and sales networks in over 60 countries, ranging from the large markets of the western world to the small and large ones in emerging and developing economies.
In all of these different scenarios, as well as playing an important role in the world of business, the Group actually promotes and sets up projects in three broad areas:
Working with local companies, particularly small-scale producers, to enhance the specificity and the quality of their products which, in many cases, represent the tradition and the culture of that country.
Adopting strict codes of conduct as regards employee relations, fully complying with the various laws and independently setting up schemes which, particularly in developing countries that do not have labour laws, acknowledge workers' rights, first and foremost the total prohibition of child labour.
Setting up tangible projects, in collaboration with the institutions of various countries, to contribute to solving the most drastic situations and to helping the weaker layers of the population.
In Italy, Guala Closures Group makes an active contribution to the following non-profit organisations, including:
• Italian non-profit league for Multiple Sclerosis
• A.la.t.Ha - non-profit social cooperative (transport and assistance for the handicapped and the elderly)
• Association for Haemopathic Children
• SOS Tumours - Association of Oncology
• Children's helpline
The Group also participates in the following projects:
The colours of the fog, a project set up by the Local Council of Alessandria - Policies for young people and the family - focused on the world of children, in progress since 2000.
